Farakunku Lodges, The Gambia

Your Anglo/Gambian hosts ( Heather and Moses) offer you deluxe, secluded, country holiday accommodation for couples and single travellers, all set in a natural rural area only 2kms from the sea on the edge of Tujereng village on Gambia’s unspoilt south coast.

We are half an hour from the airport (collection service pre-bookable at time of booking.)

We have built 4 large, airy octagonal lodges each with their own large private sun terraces and secluded seating all set in lovely gardens On site there is our open-sided residents’ restaurant offering a buffet breakfast, daytime drinks and snacks and a set 3-course evening menu.

A guests’ plunge pool with submerged seats for cooling off is situated in one corner of the gardens… ideal for that evening glass of wine or a daytime cold beer.
There are sun-beds around this pool and hammocks in shady places under the trees.

We now have free WiFi access.

We offer constant eco-friendly solar electricity and plentiful hot water (no power cuts and no noisy generators!)

We aim to please discerning travellers who seek some easy-going, stylish but affordable comfort in a peaceful setting. We are proud to offer a fully integrated solar-powered system that pumps water, provides a complete lighting solution, hot water, fans, fridges and freezer to allow the entire site to be run from eco solutions.

A separate private tree and bird sanctuary, just a few steps away, offers our guests exclusive access to a bird pool, several thatched bird observatories with comfortable seating, walkways between specimen indigenous trees and displayed information on the medicinal and legendary properties of the different tree species. This is our way of protecting and improving our environment. A growing number of recorded bird species have now made this their habitat.
