The Gambia

Lodge overview

Each octagonal eco-lodge has been built to the highest standards with interiors designed and decorated using locally sourced materials.
Each main room has a king -sized four poster bed draped in mosquito netting and a large indoor sitting area furnished with local palm/cane seating and table.
There is a well appointed wet room with adjustable shower, loo and basin and a large walk-in wardrobe room with shelving, shoe store and hanging rail. This room is lockable for you to keep any valuables safe and the key remains with you until you leave.
The rooms are well ventilated with windows on every wall as well as a ceiling fan. All windows have security bars and mosquito netting.
Outside you have your own personal and private garden area and sun terrace with seating and hammock. Raised paths lead you to the shared areas, plunge pool, sun-beds and restaurant. Each lodge is positioned to have both sun and shade on the terrace during the day and to face into its own secluded garden.
Bird bowls are positioned so that you can watch the drinking antics of our brightly coloured exotic bird visitors without even having to go out to spot them.

The lodges each have their own supply of solar electricity for all lighting, pumped water and their own solar hot water cylinder. There is no danger of running out of electricity or hot water under normal use. We regret that hairdryers cannot be used as their high wattage would put your supply at risk. (But the sun is always there!)
Rooms are cleaned daily and towels and linen changed regularly. All laundry is done by hand locally. Personal clothing can be laundered for you at a small charge per item.
