Thank you Heather, Moses and all the wonderful team for making our first trip to The Gambia so memorable. It was exactly what we were after, to escape the miserable London March weather.

Big thanks especially for the recommendation of our particularly luxurious private boat down the river- we won’t be forgetting that for a while- and for the divine evening meals ( I wasn’t joking when I said I’ll be trying to recreate some of them !!)

Hope you have a great rest of season and ‘2nd summer’ back in Devon.

Thank you Heather, Moses and the great "Farakunku Lodges” team for a wonderful stay. We couldn’t think of a better place to enjoy The Gambia. We particularly appreciated not being pestered for money etc while walking around this area. The various trips gave us a great series of views of the country. We very much appreciated the tranquillity and order of Farakunku Lodges, all the advice and particularly the great friendliness of all the team.

All the trips (arranged from Farakunku) were so worthwhile and great value for money. The food was super and in the 10 evenings we were here there was never any repetition!

Every member of staff was helpful and friendly but we particularly enjoyed our trips with Babucarr as our driver.

Thanks again to everyone. We hope to return in the not too distant future.

Heather and Moses…thank you so much for a relaxing, stress free time at Farakunku. Thank you to Alif for all the green teas! Thank you to Sekouba for preparing the sand-busting bikes and the ‘blue circle’ bike trail. Thank you to Sedat for lending me his very special sports watch to make me run faster and to Lassana for his lunchtime invitations to eat more spicy rice, chicken and Bitter Tomatoes (which Heather doesn’t like!) Thanks also to Alpha for saving us from the Puff Adder, showing me his water well and his constant smile, and finally Babucarrthank you for showing me your favourite petrol station ladies!!!

What a happy crew… a black rainbow!

Once again, to get away from the English cold, wet weather, to the warmth of The Gambia, was wonderful. As ever, the staff at Farakunku made us feel more than welcome. The variety of meals each day was wonderful, I don’t know how Heather and the kitchen staff manage it.

We did not wish to travel very far this time, but Moses was always at the ready with his usual beaming face to take us out when required.

I cannot thing of anywhere which could even compete with Farakunku. We never tire of the place and always find something a little bit different. This time it was the Nursery school to which the Farakunku Foundation has made an impact. Congratulations!

We have already provisionally booked for 2017 and are confident that this will once again prove to be magnificent. Thank you Heather and Moses.

Our first stay at Farakunku, for our first ever visit to The Gambia. Everything on Tripadvisor was true…but more than that. From the moment Moses beamed his smile at us at the airport, we were part of a unique and caring ‘family’ at Farakunku.

We felt genuinely safe and included in everything that makes up life at the lodge. The repeat visit guests were hugely welcoming and we joined them on trips to the local market - we were the only white faces there and felt safe as houses so don’t miss that experience…and the local beach!

‘Sofie’ (a chap) ,who helps run the local beach bar and café, is like an extension of Farakunku… he cares for you, there is an amazing cook and the views from his sun-loungers are ideal - white sand, rolling sea and hardly any tourists.

What we got at Farakunku was a ‘home from home’, but warmer, in both senses of the word! Nothing is ever a problem, the food was varied and creatively cooked and presented. There was an easy answer to any worry.

We have never spent 11 days in one place on any of our travels around the world, but this is the place to do that, and we quickly relaxed into the pace of life here.

The lodge arranged all our trips which were very worthwhile and great value for money. Kartong Bird Observatory, lunch and river boat trip were the best combination. We learned how to deal with the 1-3.30 sun…sit in the cool!

Next time we will definitely book up for the Art day at Tunbung, visit Moses’s Orange farm, ride the routes Heather has so carefully mapped out and do ...

Our 7th stay at Farakunku so Heather and Moses must be doing something right!

The tree sanctuary has really developed since our last visit in 2014 and it is a lovely tranquil place to sit and watch the birds.

The meals are excellent as usual and the menu is quite adventurous. The lodges are always very comfortable and spacious.

We were made very welcome again and we will certainly be back.

There has to be something magical about Farakunku and Heather and Moses, to draw us back for a third time. It has been 3 years since we last stayed here and it is remarkable that the overwhelming hospitality, warmth and attention to detail gets better and better…that takes love, dedication and hard work.

Wonderful staff, great food, beautiful gardens, trees, birds, sounds, lovely locals, quiet beaches, great location, help at every turn, smiles all day and so much more.

All this has made our visit so memorable and enjoyable once again.

There is always some new development here and this time it’s Heather’s "Arboretum”…what a fantastic achievement!

Thank you for all the extras you give to us and other guests, we appreciate you going that extra mile every time to make our stay special.

It’s a special place made only by the special people you are. Your generosity to guests and others, especially staff and your Farakunku Foundation knows no limits. We are humbled to be part of it all.

Thank you for a superb 2 weeks, especially the rather energetic finale!

The bird watching package spread over 14 days was excellent and Mas is a brilliant guide. We look forward to using him again in his new vehicle!

We love the relaxed atmosphere here and really enjoy your gardens and the local area. A far cry from further north! The staff have been very friendly and helpful, the lodge very comfortable and the meals delicious.

We have enjoyed your company and look forward to returning (but the dancing will probably be more sedate!)
