Many thanks to Moses and Heather for another fantastic holiday at Farakunku. We don’t ever re-visit the same place on holiday but Farakunku is the exception.

Our bird guide, all organised for us, was excellent. The staff too, which guarantees that things go well. We will be recommending Farakunku to our friends.

Another brilliant stay at Farakunku! The new garden is excellent-totally transformed from when we last visited in 2013. As before, Heather and Moses’s efficiency and attention to detail ensured that we had a great stay. They have also managed to employ and train friendly and helpful staff…some we’d met before and some new.

We will continue to recommend this wonderful lodge to all our friends in the UK. Thank you!

The best place I have ever visited in all my many trips to Africa. Accommodation great, staff very friendly. Few first class restaurants could do better on quality and invention.

Our guide (Ibrahim) had telescopic eyes much better than my 700mm lens! Very knowledgeable and keen to show you as much as possible of the local bird life. Drivers were competent at all times and I always felt safe in their company. I hope to pay a return visit in the not too distant future to find all the birds missed this time.

This is a little piece of heaven. It is tranquil and far away from the bustling tourist strip. Our one foray into that area put everything into perspective – Farakunku is certainly the place to stay. The team, led by Heather and Moses, is exceptional and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Our guide Ibrahim was so kind and looked after us ‘oldies’! He tailored the trips to suit our needs.

The menus were inventive and very tasty…I have a copy of our fortnight’s food to try when I get home…bet it won’t taste the same though!

This is a successful enterprise and deserves to be so, considering the amount of effort Heather and Moses put into it. Their attention to detail is second to none.

I wish them continued success.

Following a visit to Rutland Birdfair in 2014, we added Gambia and Farakunku to our ‘bucket list’!

We have had a wonderful time seeing 214 species of birds and experiencing the culture and sights in this part of The Gambia.

The team at Farakunku are amazing, which has made the time here so special. Nothing has been too much trouble. The cake for Keith’s birthday was a lovely surprise…thank you.

Great food, great accommodation, great company and great dancing and entertainment on our last evening.

Mas’, our bird guide, was amazingly good…very knowledgeable and experienced. An ideal guide for the serious birdwatcher…a brilliant experience, if a little tiring by the end of the day!

We recommend: a visit to Tanje fish market with a guide; Serrekunda market for the real Gambian experience; Calypso bar at Cape Point for relaxed bird watching…

Thank you Heather and Moses for a truly amazing time and a wonderful stay!
