Our second visit, and all that we imagined it would be. Accommodation, food and trips all excellent, including birding of course. We really enjoyed the 2 art workshops.

Our thanks to all the staff for their hard work. Really enjoyed being here over Christmas (great tree Heather!) Again a big thanks to all and hope to see you all again.

What’s not to like about Farakunku Lodges? The quiet efficiency of Heather and Moses and all their staff ensures a calmness and relaxing atmosphere, and their warm welcome makes you feel immediately at home. Lassana and Modou’s food is FABULOUS- the dreaded word ‘dieting’ will no doubt rear its ugly head in the New Year’s resolution list!

A special thank you to Heather for ensuring we had a magical Christmas- a superb meal and entertainment on Christmas Eve and an even more superb meal on Christmas Day! The table looked lovely and we were surprised and delighted to receive a present! Lassana and Modou excelled themselves.

Ebrima, our bird guide, had to have the patience of a saint to put up with our slow pace and the number of stops for Ken’s photography, but he still managed to get my bird list up to 214 - which was a record total for me.

We wish you all continued success- you certainly deserve it for all your hard work. We rarely visit the same place twice but we genuinely hope to see you again in the not-too-distant future!

All our good wishes

A birding visit over the Christmas holidays- long tough days, but very rewarding…120 birds on the first day! The lodge is a very relaxing place to re-charge after ferreting about in the bush with Mass!Thank you Heather, Moses and team for re-working our itinerary so efficiently. All the best for 2017.

A big thank you to Heather, Moses and all the wonderful staff who have made our second visit here an absolute pleasure. The accommodation, food and grounds make Farakunku a complete delight and Heather’s attention to detail and her organisational skills are outstanding.

The aim of all the staff is to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday and they certainly achieve this.

Mass is a great bird guide- he is desperate for you to see everything well. We have spent many hours in the Farakunku tree and bird garden, enjoying great views of the many birds in there.

We have also enjoyed the company of our fellow guests, particularly Joan and Ken. We hope heather will miss Bill’s sense of humour!

Our 4th visit! Farakunku is as welcoming as ever. You and your lovely staff have made our (too short) stay so enjoyable, from the delicious meals, beautifully set tables, mature gardens, great days out arranged at very short notice (sorry!)…we have loved it all. Have a great seasonand enjoy a very well-earned rest back in the UK. You have created something very special here, for which we are very grateful. Until next time…much love

Another fantastic stay here at Farakunku. Heather and Moses are such great hosts and the staff : Lassana and Modou (great cooks) Babucarr (a great, careful driver) Alpha (the vigilant night watchman) Sekouba and Alif (brilliant gardenrs) and Kaddy (the lovely housekeeper); it is like staying in one big happy family.

Thanks too to Mass our bird guide, without whom, Rosie and I would never have seen 218 different birds. One day Mass…a new car??!!

01 December 2016

Well, here we are again for the fourth time! It won’t be the last. Everything has been great even with a few early season ‘blips’. It’s our first time in November and boy, has it been hot and unseasonably humid…but there was always the plunge pool to cool you down. As always, the food has been excellent and varied. How Heather manages to not repeat dishes- not just for the two weeks but also from previous visits- I’ll never know. Lassana and his new cook Modou do a great job- and tell us the football results- always important!

All the staff are great and the new groundsman Alif fits in perfectly- and has a lovely smile.

Farakunku is one of the most relaxing places to stay and we will be back next season.
